ISCO was founded by leading researchers in the field of pathology and oncology and is a merger of two major international societies. The aim is to promote the interdisciplinary collaboration of leading researchers world-wide and to form a strong alliance against cancer. The society is especially focused on solid tumors as these tumors are still overwhelmingly uncurable today and stand for about 90 percent of all tumor entities. Therefore, ISCO is engaged to improve diagnostic and therapeutic options.

ISCO´s strong alliance of active researchers in the field of cancer crosses many disciplines including medical oncology, molecular and cell pathology, genomics, proteomics, epigenomics, biochemistry, specialist microscopy, molecular imaging, biotechnology and bioinformatics.

Cellular Oncology

ISCO is editor of "Cellular Oncology" (impact factor 4.16), a leading international journal in its field.
